Electric cars have a tire problem nobody talks about

Electric cars may feel smooth and futuristic, but they hide a costly problem many owners discover too late. The combination of heavy batteries, instant torque, and aggressive regenerative braking constantly stresses the tires in ways traditional cars never do. Even when cruising on the highway, EV tires are rarely just “free rolling” like those on gasoline vehicles. Over time, that constant load can wear them out far faster than most drivers expect. For many EV owners, the result is a surprising reality - replacing tires far more often than they ever planned.

Why she chose a BMW M2 DCT over a BMW M4 + Lexus GX470 overland build review

Niel upgraded from a Mini Cooper S to a BMW M2, purchasing it before the M2 CS had been unveiled. The choice between an M3, M4, or the M2 was a tough one, but the M2's appeal proved irresistible. Her license plate amusingly makes other drivers want to race her all the time. Niel's M2 is stock, offering an authentic ownership experience straight from the dealer. She shares her car adventures on Instagram @turrbokitty. If I were to own an M2, I'd consider a Stage 1 tune, smaller wheels, a valved catback exhaust, and maybe a roof wrap, though the toughest choice remains between a DCT or manual transmission. Ansrwd, a series of car reviews by real owners, offers insights not from automotive journalists like Chris Harris or Doug Demuro, but from actual enthusiasts. Cars featured in this series include models like the Gaglardi Vex, Porsche 911 GT3, McLaren 600LT, Ferrari F12/F430 and 458 Italia, Acura NSX, Corvette, FRS, BMWs, Drift Cars, and more. How the 2020 Corvette achieves its fastest 0-60 ever

How A Mid-Engine Corvette Became So Much Quicker To 60 MPH The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is a monumental shift in the car's design. For the first time ever, a production Corvette will be mid-engine, with the engine placed behind the driver, and be equipped with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission. The C8 Corvette features a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 producing 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque with the optional performance exhaust. With the engine's torque, the transmissions speed, and the Michelin PS4S tire's grip, a quick 0-60 time was inevitable. But power and grippy tires can only do so much for acceleration when your design is limited by weight transfer. And the previous ZR1 Corvette, with it's insanely fast sub-3 second 60 mph speed, was limited by simple physics. If you can't get enough of the weight of a car onto the driven wheels, acceleration will suffer. By moving the engine back on the new Corvette, the acceleration potential is greatly improved. Check out the video for 0-60 predictions, braking distance predictions, and a fascinating overview of the 2020 Corvette Stingray.

The Audi SQ7 is powered by a 4.0L sequential turbo diesel V8. It's good for about 435 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque, which is great, but the fun doesn't stop there. In order to eliminate unresponsive nature of turbocharged engines, Audi has fitted the car with an electric supercharger, the first in a production vehicle. This means adding an onboard 48V system that can handle the additional power requirements of the electric powered compressor (EPC), which at full throttle can produce 7 kW of power, enough to spin the compressor wheel up to 70,000 RPM in just a quarter of a second. Full details of how this system works in the video, as well as animations. Engineering Explained is a participant in the Amazon Influencer Program.
